Looking at doing a backsplash in the garage. I have some racing plaques that have been collecting dust, and I thought a cool idea might be to use them as the backsplash, along with some neutral tiles to fill in the gaps.

I haven't tackled this type of project before, but I'm thinking the plaques (wood) would stick just like tile. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Thanks.

For the wood I would use some sort of clear drawer liner film on the back of the plaques to protects them for future removal and then liquid nail film to the wall (not sure what the name of the vinyl adhesive sheet is called).
Wood can shrink and swell with humidity and that could cause your thin set to fail.
