The purpose of this structure is to serve as a studio/office structure for my wife. Here are the specifics: 12x16 footprint, 2x6 walls w/R19 insulation. Poured concrete foundation on top of 12” of crushed limestone rock. Slab floor approx. 4 inches thick with 2” of blue high density foam board underneath. Also placed 5 mil vapor barrier under foam to minimize moisture movement. Placed 1” foamboard around inside of foundation as slab contains ½” PEX tube w/oxygen barrier. PEX is made of 2 loops, each being approximately 100 feet in length. Heat is provided by an electric tankless boiler, a 27,000 Btu unit run on 40 amps @ 240 volts. Power supplied to she was via 6-3 UF from house, trenched 100 feet to shed location. Enough power for boiler, outlets, ceiling fan, etc. See pictures below. Siding is Hardiboard placed on OSB sheets covered with tarpaper. Roof is 7/12 cathedral with (only) R19. There are 3 double hung windows, 2 awning windows and 2 skiylights in addition to a 36” man door. All windows were obtained from local HomeDepot for the closeout price of $52.50 each! Door was double that but not bad for fiberglass unit. Not sure what the total $$ input is thus far, been working on this for the better part of 7 months part time. Will fire up the heat this week for first time. The system has been filled with RV antifreezed and ‘topped off’ to 30psi which will be lowered to 15 psi. Vapor barrier and sheetrock this week as well.
