Hello all, if you follow my other thread "My Backyard Texaco" then you may have read that I sold my old house and property of 20 years. We moved to a larger house on more land and no homeowners association so we are now free to really expand our Texaco station.

Before I start to build my new Texaco showpiece, I wanted to remodel our attached garage. It is unique in that it has a double wide garage door on one end and a single wide door on the other so you can drive through the garage. The garage however was a mess when we took ownership. I have been remodeling it over the last years, so I thought I would post some before, during, and after pics (with the after coming when we are all finished)...

Good job. So if I read this right, after the daily use garage is complete, you will start construction on a detached garage/Texaco building?

Yes, when we moved I packed up all my Texaco stuff and will be converting my new barn into the new station. This barn is much bigger than the old one!

Getting closer... still need to do some trim work and a few other surprises.... we are short handed at work (I am a Safety Instructor for Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis) and we have three shifts, so I have been working 13-14 hour days covering all shifts so only have time to work on the garage on the weekends right now...

What is a Safety Instructor for a car company? Sounds like a job for Safety Shorty.:headscrat

RR has their hands in MUCH more than cars.

These were fun to do Control Systems on, but I left that business before Siemens bought that part of RR.

No cars for us anymore.... we make airplane engines and helicopter engines. My job is to train our employees so that they go home everyday with the same amount of fingers, toes and eyeballs that they came in to work with....

Saving my huge air compressor for the shop I will soon be building, so I picked up the Kobalt 60 gallon upright from Lowes. It had great reviews and is American made ... plus Lowes gives Veterans a discount.

Well I haven't been able to progress on my Texaco station like I had hoped (way too many projects going on costing time and money), so we decided to move the indoor Texaco collection into the attached garage for now. Be on the lookout for the updates as we start on it this weekend! Also updated my bar barn thread with the latest progress on it. And the money pit...my Pro street supercharged big block nitrous Vega is torn apart right now as I am adding more bars on the cage to get it to certify into the low 8 second 1/4 mile et. Painting the firewall, redoing the steering and freshening up everything else. Busy busy times right now!!

haven't posted any updates in a while so thought I would add a few more pics. I was able to get about 75% of my Texaco collection on display in the garage. I found an old entertainment center on craigslist that was huge. I cleaned it up, did some modification and added a solid back to it so I could display more stuff. y collection set in my trailer packed up for a year until I could get it back on display at the new house... now I can see it every time I walk out in my attached heated garage! by the way... if you don't recognize the cars... they are (one 1975 one 1976) Sebring Vanguard CitiCars. These were the first mass produced all American made electric cars. About 2400 of them made which held the record for most US electric car sales until the Tesla came along. They are horrible little cars that operate as bad as they look... but I love them!

I haven't logged on in a long time so I thought I would do an update.... I haven't done any more work to the Texaco barn, the Texaco garage or the outdoor bar because I took my hot rod down to the frame to rebuild. Now that its done I will start back on the garages... until then, here is what I did to the Vega.... I took VooDoo off the road for all of 2018 to do some much needed upgrades and repair. The front frame section was very stressed and was twisting and the steering was dangerous. I ended up taking it down to the frame, fixing the frame, adding some strength to it, new Flaming River steering box. Added more cage with front down tubes going into the dash so its tucked in nicely along the pillars and not in the way. Added cross bracing underneath and then ground the frame smooth and painted it. Filled all the holes in the firewall and smoothed it as well then had the firewall and downtubes painted in the color the whole car will be eventually... House of Kolors Oriental Blue. It really looks like it is still wet paint it is so slick. Next came a quick engine reseal and gasket... no need to rebuild so just sealed it up good! Polished every piece of aluminum and put $1000 worth of new braided lines and ends. Two new carbs (sent the old ones back to Danny the original owner of the car, so he could use them on his new project. Finally lowered the front end (probably too low as the oil pan is about 2" off the ground... but man does it look great). First time out I took it to a local car show that had about 130 cars and it was a big hit. I won 1st place in the Pro Street category and also won Best Engine. Finally I won Best of Show! Not bad... three trophies on its first outing....

Very nice collection. Vega pretty bad *** too.
Any chance of getting some good straight-on pictures of each section of your can collection?
