Bad ballast?

Having a problem with a new 8' two bulb fluorescent light. Uses the 8' bulbs that have a single pin on each end. Worked fine initially when installed a couple of weeks ago. Now, only one bulb lights. The one bulb appears to be at full light. It has a single ballast. The ballast has three wires coming out. One to each pin on one side and one wire which feeds both pins on the opposite end. I already tried switching bulbs out and got the same result.

Just because it is new, doesn't mean that it can't go bad. If swapping bulbs gets the same results, one side of the ballast has gone south. I would take it back to where I purchased it and get a replacement.

Swap the common sockets on the end with the single wire from the ballast and see if the non-working lamp moves to the other side. If it does you have a bad socket or a bad connection on the socket. Bill

you may not want to do that. generally, when you remove wires for the sockets, the sockets have to be replaced.

I meant to physically take the sockets out of the end bracket and swap their position and not removing the wiring from them. Bill
