Dude. Buy the part from dewalt or parts direct. It's probably 2 bucks. Or go to HF and buy the 20 dollar nailer. They work great! Had mine for years!

Hey!....all of you there listen up...WE dictate POLICY...WE force change......Don't any of you here dare to explain how LOWES 'warranty' works to me.

It's REALLY simple......WE have the bucks and LOWES wants them, so WE vote with every $ we spend.

That makes US in charge.

So TAKE charge and be vocal about why/where you spend your money and they will ALL fight for it...Trust me, even the huge box store corps will pucker up and puff your peter to get their share.

Guys, if you ain't never experienced three cute gals fighting over you, then you ain't got a clue.
Are you ACTUALLY retarded, or are you trolling?

SO...UPDATE!

I decided that returning the tool to Lowes was not the ethical thing to do, and I took it to the local authorized dewalt repair center. That was on 11/05/2012. It's been a month and they claim they don't have the part yet. I needed a nailgun, so I finally broke down and went to buy a replacement. I ended up buying the four piece set from Campbell Hausfeld at Lowes, for $89. It includes the 18GA brad nailer, a 16GA finish nailer, a crown stapler, and a pin nailer. I was a little hesitant due to the brand, but figured I would give them a try for the price (orig $149, on sale for $89). I have used all of the nailers, and couldn't be happier. I haven't had a single failure to fire yet, not jamming, etc. They all work flawlessly! I may even just sell the extra dewalt when I get it back, or keep it as a spare. Overall, I am very unhappy with the service I am receiving on the repair (state they have no idea when it will be done, despite having it for one month already). They did confirm that the failed part was the driver, which is a fairly simple fix. I am glad that I picked up the CH set though, and would do it again in an instant.

Sometimes (like in this case) taking the ethical road is a pain in the ***, but I maintain that it was the right choice to avoid disenchanting the tool gods! ;)
