I got a nice Ridgid 14'' pipe wrench today for free! The jaws are almost mint condition the wrench was rusty and was painted with yellow trimclad over the original red It was all starting to peel and chip. It looked like ****!

After 20min of stright sandblasting and some black oxide skills heres my new one of a kind Ridgid 14'' industeral finnished pipe wrench!

Trust me its way more bad *** in person!

That looks really good. I've never heard of black oxide before, so I just spent about 30 seconds on google looking at it. Did you use the hot or cold method? This might be something I'd like to try.

That does look good, Ive blasted mine, and painted them yellow (just so they dont look like anyone else's and they really stand out), but the black looks better, and is so much more durable..!

That's pretty neat. We have a bunch of those old ridge wrenches in the garage. One of them is 3 feet long. We tried to sell them at a yard sale last spring, but there were no takers.

First, ya gotta know your tool - Rigid meant the best back before they whored out to the BORGS.

Second, you have to know who is in the market for quality tools. Do a craigslist ad with photos. Put same price on the pipe wrenches on craigslist as you had at the yard sale and they'll be gone in 60-seconds. Someone will know the Grainger catalog price on a Rigid 36" is $157.50.

thnx, jack vines (who is keeping all eight of his dad's Rigid from 6" to 36")

GREAT...... here's one more damn thing I have to buy and get good at - black oxide finishing.

Thanks a lot, arkangel06...... thanks a lot. Now all my tools look stupid next to your sinister, stealthy, badass pipe wrench.
