So I'm getting ready to prep my garage floor for porcelain tile and I'm not sure how to go about getting all the loose concrete up from my pitted, spalling floor. You can see from the pics that I have some areas that need attention. Overall the floor is in good shape. I just have these trouble areas.

Aside from hammering up the loose stuff, is there a faster way to get up all the bad concrete. The concrete underneath the loose stuff is sound so I just need to break up anything that isn't bonding anymore.

I used a putty knife and a large prybar to get the "loose" pieces out. When I say "loose" I mean, they are cracked but not separating from the floor yet. Once that was complete, I'd pressure wash the floor like Slowgsr said.

Thanks for the advice! Any recommendations on a good concrete cleaner? This floor is 60 years old and probably has never been cleaned.
