Unless you want Snap-On for some reason, Bahco is the OEM for them so no need paying more.

Bahco has the 317 for DIY use, the 319 (same as the Snap-On you posted) for pro use, and the 325 as top of the line. So for price you should compare the Bahco to the HSG325 instead.

On my older ones the 317 is Taiwan made, and the 319 and 325 are made in Sweden. Might have changed now but I don't think so. On the link you posted I see the Snap-On listed with Sweden as COO... The blades are swedish made for all though, at least in Bahco branding.

As a owner of all three, I would recommend the the 325, it feels a lot sturdier and has better blade tensioning and change mechanisms.

Thanks for posting! I didn't search real far on Snap On, but they list the 325 as COO Sweden, so I would assume the Bahco is the same.

I am currently using the facom 603f and think its possibly the best hacksaw ive ever used. I cant for the life of me cut a straight line with a hacksaw, but this thing has come as close to straight as im ever likely too

I didn't even know they made more than one. Now I have to look at mine. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Merbie, is that one Swedish?

I know this thread is a few weeks old, but I would like to know this as well. Merbie's saw is missing the old label showing made in Sweden. Here are side by side google image searches showing the difference. I think I'll just bite the bullet and get the 325 as I haven't seen any without the Swede tag.

FWIW, I bought a 225 from the ebay ad listed in the 2nd post, Swedish. I also ended up picking up a 325 on Amazon from ISC Denver, also Swedish. I should be good for hacksaw frames for a long time!

I have to second the Lenox HT - smaller top frame than the Bahco and works just as well - no idea COa now, mine it about 15 years old.

+1 for the 225. I got one from sandvic (people who owned bahco before snap on bought them out) and it is nice, I also got a bunch of their wood saws too. That frame is nearly exactly the same as mine from the 80's

Another vote for the Lenox HT. Can't tell you where its made (checked mine and it's not marked) but its a damn good saw and an unbeatable price

Update: I bought the 325 from Amazon Prime

Got the 325 from Amazon the other day and sure enough, the badge no longer says Sweden. Unlike Merbie, mine doesn't say Sweden or anywhere else anywhere on the frame itself. The blade does of course. The cardboard packing slip still says Made in Sweden, but not the tool. I know Snapon got some gruff here about not putting USA on ratchets, maybe their strategy applies to their other brands.

I'm not crazy about the glitter paint, and the rubber grips look like they might not last that long, but I'm willing to give it a try. I'm sick of my stanley.

They got the craftsman heavy duty frames for 8.** bucks (local, might be national). Not sure where they're made but looked pretty good to me on the internet.
