Bahco T72 Ratchet

I had been looking for a "go to" 1/4 ratchet to replace my broken one.

I have always liked my Snap On TL72, but it is long handled version and I never bought a regular T72 yet.

The other day I was removing a throttle cable mount up on the inside of the firewall with my head buried near the brake pedal, barely any room to fling the ratchet and spin the socket to back the bolt out. The TL72 got the job done better than the gearwrench and craftsman 60T.. which I had also tried.

So I went and got this one by Bahco and supposed to be same internals as the T72. Looking forward to use as my goto 1/4 ratchet which to me that means no flex head and not extra long. If I am using 1/4 it usually is in the tight places.

Has anyone used one maybe the 3/8 version long term and how did they hold up?

It looks huge -- really fat. Am I seeing that wrong?

I don't really like my T72 -- much prefer it's longer cousins. Tiny thing digs into the center of the palm of my hand half the time.

I hear you about the T72 with the digging with its thin handle, this one won't have that problem with the thicker handle. I don't know how I feel about it though, might be because it is kind of chubby, short and heavy it feels like either the head or handle is too heavy / kind of unbalanced I almost dropped it a couple of times.

Will have to go to actually use it and report back

I like mine, I use my TF72 almost exclusively so i put a 3/8 kit into my Bahco 1/4 ratchet. Now it gets a little more use. It has a comfy handle and yes it is the same internals as Snap-on.

I think would prefer the Bahco without the handle, just full chrome but they don't make one.

I would have chose the THL72, less girth to the overall tool.

I've got the 3/8" version. I like it a lot. It's light, comfy, but doesn't look or feel like junk. My go to lower profile head. When I can't get my rotoheads in there, I grab my Bahco.

Bahco overall manufactures some high quality tools. Bahco's adjustable wrenches with the pipe jaws on the reverse side are very nice. Being a division of Snap-On, a few of Bahco's products are the exact same as Snap-On's and JH Williams' tools.

The only tools that I would not recommend from Bahco are their pliers. While they are not terrible; There are better pliers out there that can be had for the same if not cheaper price point.

The 1/4 one the OP posted can be had for around $32 us off of amazon. A 1/2 drive around 10" looks like its $46, also off amazon.

Guess there is always Williams, like this 30011:

It's only about 1/2" longer than the Bahco and does not have the fat handle. It's also 60-tooth and has the quick-release feature. And Williams is still in the Snap-on "family".

^^^ I like the Williams ratchets, both old and new. The old Superratchets are GREAT! But have been hesitant about the Bahco because it appears unwieldy.

do you have the non soft grip 1/4dr Gearwrench 120XP?
that's my current go to i've never had a nice 1/4 only crappy C-man rp's. Thanks Trident Tools and Mike

I have the Bahcos in 1/4 and 3/8 drive. They're nice ratchets especially for the price. We've discussed them before. They're made in Spain and even have the same warning on the gear cover as a snap on ratchet in english.

However, the chrome is a little on the dull side and they're only offered in the standard model with comfort grip across 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drives.

I would consider the Gearwrench 84 tooth series if looking for different type handles or lengths. You can get all steel or comfort grip versions, in standard, extra long, or flex head versions that will serve you well. Shop around though as there's a wide price gap for the same item.
