Bahco Tool Chest

Hi,

Anybody familiar with Bahco tool chests? They feel much more heavy duty than what I have at the moment - each cabinet is about 150 lbs. Apparently not very popular in the UK as I can't find any info on them.

Anybody?

Looks awesome - can't wait to see them loaded with tools. Not sure about blue tools in an orange box though so you might have to switch brands

I'm going on a limb here. Bahco is owned by SO and there is some product sharing. The outer shell of the box is very SOish. The drawer pulls do differ, but I'm not saying the box is a direct cross. If somebody can come up with a COO for the box, if it happens to be USA, I'd bet a dollar it's made in a SO factory. Williams rebadges some SO boxes, why not Bahco, they are both under the SO industrial banner now.

Doesn't Snap on own Bahco now. Wonder if that is a variation on a Blue Point box. Does it say where it's made?

That is a ashame the box is chicom, even used the same style sticker as a SO box. I have no idea what the BP boxes are like other then I always assumed they where a cheapen verson of a KRA box, which to my knowledge is USA.

Oh well, they are on a par pricewise with Sealey, Clarke boxes.

Picked up these babies today. They are ex-display items but came complete with all accessories. Assembled and took a picture. The one on the right is bigger, heavier and made of thicker steel. The drawers are deeper too. The one on the left is more like my Halfords Industrial boxes. At £100 ($160) a pop they were a bargain. I'm keeping both and will make some more pics when I'm done transferring the tools.

They were made in Canada until April 2011 when SO shut the plant.

Yes KRA were made in Canada, but production was moved to USA, I think Iowa.

i know this is a year Old topic, bur there isn’t much to be found about Bahco boxes.

Im on the fence. I Can buy a model e72 nearly new for a good price. But is it much better than my Hazet 166n that i refurbished? I know the Hazet is a open fart style and this Bahco is closed. The Hazet has a thick gauge metal build, that are very heavy duty, which i like.
How does the Bahco compare? Will i miss my Hazet ?

Not only the small foldable - e.g. since 1969 the 172HD or in the 1990s the 174 etc.

I have a new, big, rock solid HAZET 179 NW at my work place. See HAZET webpage for tool trolleys
And some old ones at my hobby garage (1955 Hazet/Helka closed model for VW and foldable 1967-76 HAZET 166 TS).

I know the different model hazet’s i just wanted to change my assistent out with a closed Bahco box like this in the thread if it i good quality ;-).

the price is difference is huge.

The good old Swedish "AB BAHCO" (alias "Aktiebolag" & "Berndt August Hjorth & Company", founded in 1862) made good tools in the past.
Since they are bought 1999 from Snap-on and produced in Spain etc, I don't see many difference to cheap Asian products, sorry.

The photo of the first post shows already security issues - you can open all the drawers - fully loaded risk of tipping.
Very cheap quality also at other topics.
