I came across this breaker bar on a Facebook buy and sell page.
Looks like it came from the snapon factory? Why are they badging tools with the bahco name of it is them making them? I know bahco is one of the snapon brands.. but always assumed they were tools made in Italy or Sweden or something.

It's very difficult to figure out the Bahco brand. Originally one of the best toolmakers in the world - in Sweden.

Now, they come from all over the globe.

I believe right after Snap-on acquired Bahco, they started producing USA made tools for the lower end. I personally have Sockets that are made in 2001-2002. I received information that during the time period the USA Bahco was made, none of it was metric, all made in SAE. So roll that thing over and let's see the date code.

Bacho were taken over by snap-on and some of their tools are made in the USA but its not clear which.

Their cutting and saw blades are still made in Sweden im sure.

I didn't buy it. The guy wants 80 bucks which is a deal if it's the same length as the 180.00 snapon equivalent. So I'm only sharing the photos from his ad

The part number of that breaker bar is 8170-1/2.
They also do a shorter version 8158-1/2. I have seen them for sale in Europe but none for sale in USA. Anyone know of a supplier in North America?

Maybe they are cutting costs and getting more hardline made in USA.

I haven't seen a bahco beaker bar like that before, all of the ones i've seen have a soft comfort handle and sometimes a matte finish;

Might be old stock not made anymore.

Well I bough one, the 8170 1/2, from Amazon.de, it was pretty expensive but I have been after a 36" breaker since I got the long Cornwell ratchet and I wasn't going to pay what snap on wants, it is like the op pic, 36" made in USA on it, heavy duty head, looks like a replaceable square.

That is very interesting, looks very much like the snap on version with the replaceable square.. quite a chance that its made in the same factory

i didn't know they made any Bahco stuff in the US, thought it was mainly Spanish for the adjustable's, pliers etc, Taiwan for their sockets and wrenches and cutting blades saws etc are still made in Sweden (or were recently) pretty cool if they are moving some manufacturing to the US imho,

Will have to see if i can find one here, as there are a few shops that stock Bahco tools, my Snap on guy stocks some but its mainly pliers and adjustable wrenches

There are Bahco ratchets that use Snap on dual 80 internals, tend to only find them available in America though and they did do a run of USA imperial sockets shortly after they bought Bahco.
I checked and the dimensions on the Snap on site match this breaker bar, but I got it for about £60 less than the Snap on one would cost. I would say its the same bar but you would have to have both and compare.

Haven't seen those ratchets in person but figured they used dual 80 internals as the back plates etc look the same, know Bahco ratchet screwdrivers also use the same internals as Snap on ones (I have one, not that keen on the handle but dig the metal selector)

Quite interested in picking up one, as would be useful for stuff that requires more leverage than my 24" snap on bar.. but not enough that warrants using my 3/4 drive one (I work on heavy equipment)

I ended up buying this breaker bar. I'm still waiting for the package but the part number is 8170- 1/2.
When that # is googled, a much shorter bahco bar comes up which is very weird. (This one is 36" long)

My mistake. The page brings you to a photo of the smaller bar but then below it the different part numbers show the different lengths.
For 80 bucks this seemed like a no brainer, since the snapon equivalent is almost 200 bucks last time I checked

I bought a sae 3/8 set of Bahco sockets with extensions. 24 sockets, three extensions and two socket rails. All are USA made and it came with a black Williams ratchet. They were at a discount outlet store for 35.00.

The sockets have great chrome and are finished very nicely compared to my SK stuff. I don't have much snap on to compare it to.

B and G Discount in Schoolcraft Michigan. They had a bunch back around Christmas. I bought all that I needed at the time. I've gone back since then and they are all gone.

The stamp on it looks like the 2015 stamp here http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=145383

Bahco have started having numerous items produced again in the USA. Maybe as part of Snap On it's to keep production costs down?

The 8158-1/2 breaker bar, the 8169 and the 8170 are made in USA. Also the 6952N 1/4 speeder. They are also producing 1/2 metric sockets 12 point in USA.
