Ok - typically I will start a new project and get some progress before I will post a "build" thread, but in this case I'm jumping the gun a bit. I have not done one thing to the garage yet but start dreaming up purchases.

I do go pick up my US General 44" box that I bought based off of reviews on here and alot of snooping:)

Other than that, house was built in 2013 and has a standard 20x20 with about a 12 ft roof.

The plan is simple, get rid of my storage shelves I have now, build a nice workbench, move most storage to above the garage door when it's open, and some type of mat for the floor. Wire up 220 and get a single stage 60 gallon setup and sell my two existing welders and pick up a new 220v MIG setup.

I have way more plans tha n that but will write them down in future post as the newborn is waking up and it's Daddy Time:)

BTW, this list is in NO WAY firm on the parts and brands - only thing firm right now is the 44" toolbox and i"m pretty set on the Northern tool workbench kit based off of reviews. Other than that, these things are just an overview so I could sell the build to the wife:)

Garage Build:

44” toolbox – Harbour Frieght – Birthday gift:

Straps for roof mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UBVXRQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20
Several overhead storage racks – one to right side above water heater, two racks possible above the garage door when open – can make those two:

Roll out flooring: Versa roll or simular:

Lincoln 180 welder: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lincoln-Electric-Weld-Pak-180-HD-Wire-Feed-Welder-K2515-1/100670932
60 gallon air compressor: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-60-gal-Stationary-Electric-Air-Compressor-C602H/205389936
Have not picked out the cabinets yet – no rush on them.

Oh, and because i'm an avid forum guy and we are mostly men, we need visual stimulation - here is my starting point:)

Long time but finally an update:)

First, can't wait to get a damn truck again:

And the first overhead storage being built - will put in place later today or by Saturday:

Side project at same time - two A/C units in back and reflect rigth into our 30x12 back porch, just blocking off:

Final product - once in place and hung putting some L brackets on the sides but will not be putting much weigth up there at all, seasonal stuff, heaviest thing will be christmas tree probably.

Also got a 3/4 inch plywood piece cut for the top of the workbench, will be 3'x8':)

Baby is 9 months old now so should be more progress as i'm actually getting some time again for myself:)

OH yeah finished product in back yard:

After the thanksgiving feast on Saturday - I'm at work today - will probably do some sides on it to completely close off the A/C as just adding the front portion REALLY helped the noise, so adding to 4 ft Post and then running the fence the rest of the way out on both sides will help even more, only abuot 45 bucks to do that, we will see though, depends on the wife:) Will be adding a couple of boards on each side to cover the 2x4's that are sticking out and make it look better:)

More done:)

Oh finished product on first overhead storage:

Building second, wife didn't want over here Jeep so put it in the front:
No pics of finished yet:

No help so legs to stand it up:

Adding some bracing to legs to be able to lean and stand up.

And what I deal with to get the stuff for now:)

Paint is on one complete now - color is off a bit so this is basically being used as a primer - will do the other one next weekend. I'm 4 on 4 off right now 12's and this is my mondya, so hope to get both painted completely and the workbench built next weekend - all depends on the wife and baby though. Have some lightweight screens and stuff I need to store - so looking at some industrial piping to put on the bottom of the painted one to put the screens in for long term storage, also will be making some type of surfboard mounts coming off as well, probably industrial piping covered with foam etc...

Threw some stuff on it for temp right now:

While doing this stuff, got side tracked, but just did the following:

Making my HF 90 AMP flux welder DC instead of the wierd A/C it is for flux....

Ordered this: Digi-Key part CAP ALUM 100000UF 20% 50V SCREW
Also a 1 phase Diode Bridge Rectifier 150A Amp 1600V
In addition bought a 200amp spring loaded Copper ground clamp.

Also ordered some touch up spray paint for the BMW, going to be working on the few spots that are needed to fix once I get the workbench completed.

Hope to get the remaining boards I need and the proper paint as well. Busy at work doing 12's so that ***** for progress but great for research and buying lol.

May just be a productive weekend:)

Doesn't look like much in these pic's ,but to get this in place was a PITA - the relocating of everything was the hardest part, the workbench itself was simple, oh and who needs a Rack? Backstory, I had a nice truck, but when we went to buy this house I sold off quite a few toys - and my big truck. BMW has been paid for since I got it in winter of 2013:)

Before:

Had to relocate the hurricane shutters if you didn't pick up on it:

Cleanup over the next few days:)

Looks good, but you're not worried about having easy access to the water heater? That's a lot of weight you'd have to move if there was ever a water emergency.

Why on Earth do you keep making lumber runs with a BMW 3-series when there is a Jeep in your garage?

Way I see it - 10 year warranty on the house:) Built in Fall of 2013, I'll be moved out and it will be sold by the time the warranty goes out:)

If I have to move it, it is what it is you know:)

That's the Wifes Jeep - and no rack for it - I believe we owe around 35k on the Jeep, BMW was paid for day I got it:) For me it's a no-brainer, and only make the runs when I can't borrow the in-laws truck, or I'm too impatient. Also a great way to show the wife, I need a truck again:)

About 90 mins in there today, it's good for now - wife hates it - means I'll be painting it at the minimum.

I love it - have alot more to do - but this has me a place to work so will be alot of little projects I have put off that will get worked on soon:)

Been busy with work and kiddo's - but finished painting the one above the garage, have used the bench alot - fixed a few thing on it - and used the welder till I ran out of wire mounting the exhaust on the BMW. Have some plans to work on but current pic I guess.

Oh added a Stud Bar as well, been using it and getting some foam mat to throw down and will do some HIT training in there for a few minutes morning and night soon I hope. Had a surgery on my toe and have been immobile, so put a few pounds on but finally moving better again:)

Coming together bro!

Your ceiling storage looks better built than the one that was pre existing in my garage! Glad only storing plastic bins full of Christmas and Halloween decorations and lightweight camping gear. I'm in purging mode. Need to find a place to get rid of my old uniforms and the garage will mostly be clutter free!

I did my purge around 2 years ago just before buying this house, need to do another one soon.

Have made quite a few more changes but haven't been taking pics, reason is simple - it looks like hell while i'm attempting to organize quietly because i typically only get to go in garage when baby is asleep...

Wow, been a while but had been building up some items for the garage, finally - FINALLY got to work on it some more:)

Since last update finally got rid of the BMW and got a 4Runner so some time and effort was put into it - 3/2" lift 285's, exhaust, intake mods, CB, stereo, etc but to a point where I am comfy driving it till the next round of mods, so used it and it is the reason for the next round of mods in the garage - will be doing a lot more welding soon - front and rear bumper, sliders, custom low profile roof rack for RTT etc. Will be wiring up 220v in the garage as well soon so can step up:)

Anyway - picked up some 2x4's just 16 this time:

Baby girl helping - building sawhorses at this point:

progress

yes i measured - then I didn't like it so back out it comes:

new height:

Leftover wood idea:

Old school fitment - hammer and chisel:)

Done here - added storage tray for gun for pressure washer, hook on side for extension cord - will be more done over here just need some tapcon's for a small shelf up top

On to bikes - self explanatory

In place now:

Added more to this - for stability and added the other items as well but can't see them here as was in place for the under tray etc.

Oh yeah, here is how it looked before - ALL the time:(

Not seen here is a 42" TV that I moved out of the living room and will be wall moutning it where the Welcome metal sign is - just wiring up to watch vids and have music as opposed to throwing out or trying to sell for basically nothing. I made a wall mount for it and have not did any cleaning yet, just making storage and getting things off the floor, tonight I will go out and start cleaning a bit - can't stand it being unorganized.

Older daughter:

Younger daughter aka/Baby

Wheeling:

And that's just in the last few weeks:) Try to get them out as much as I can, have a senior in high school as well - but he doesn't enjoy father son time anymore so I rarely force him to do fun stuff:) My girls love the time outdoors as much as I do:)

More progress, proud to call it my own now, just need to do more organizing and then get a bench top from somewhere...

She approves as can see in the next 3 or so pics:

The fact she loves it of course means WAY more garage time for me, still need to do more to get it a bit safer, but her mom is good with her being out there with me now:)

Here's some overall pics and the progress:

And well Earned:

Attaching this one so you can see the "massive" computer system I have powering the TV - the Rasberry PI is sitting on the white cup on top of the toolbox in this pic to the left side of the pic, may be setting up the new ASUS Tinker for the house soon as well - it's 4k enabled;-)

Did some work this weekend:)

Wife ordered dual too Jeep in summer of 13 as a 14 model with 6speed and everything she wanted, Sunday was first time she drove it with hard top off...

Racor rack with a few tweaks for hardtop removal and storage, nothing fancy but super easy to use and way overrated for her Jeep stuff only.

That's a cool way to remove and store the top. I always wondered where people put their hardtops. Now I know [emoji106]

Wow, long time and I stay away from this site on purpose - can get expensive quickly! Back in Jan picked up my legacy build from my Dad, had to pay but was a fair price considering the 347 that is in the car I built and then "gave" him - *** block, **** Crank, **** H-beam rods, KB Forged pistons, I file fit the rings, can had the crank knife edged when I built it back in ~2012. Fast forward to 2019 and I got the engine back with different heads - had very ported Holley's on it, now it has AFR box stock 205's. Anyway dialing the car in now and have a need to get it in the garage, mainly to pull the rear out, finish redoing exhaust, fixing fuel line issues, weld in the battle boxes, and just well "race car things".

So with that in mind made some more changes and have more coming. Have to sell some stuff in the next few weeks to make room but there will be 2 cars in my 2 car garage going forward, and wife has agreed our next house will either have 3 car garage or a 2 car and a separate garage for me:)

So, one of the pic's I have right now - and will probably do another overhead storage setup or run roof shelving around the remaining sides of the garage. Few of the car because realized I will have to edit in pics - only one I hae on this work computer is the shelf I got rid of - and now have 8x10's hard mounted on the wall so have room to pull the car in. Also have a rolling IT shelf setup that I mounted my drill press and vise on that is too large so will be attempting to sell it, or will cut/weld it to a little narrower setup and who doesn't like re-purposing and welding stuff:)
