I want to add a shear and brake to my metal working collection . I have noticed most of the brakes on the used market only shear 20 ga. material and I work with a lot of 16 ga. for restoration work.
I love the durability of old industrial shears and brakes but have had little luck or time finding one that is within a few hundred miles of Pa or they are 12 ft long and three phase.

I receive a lot of literature from Baileigh industrial and notice their model 5216 shear, brake and roll combo has the capacity of handling 16 guage material and is a nice manual size. Has any one used one or are familiar with Baileigh equipment? I like to try large purchase equipment before I lay down the hard earn cash or even see it in action.

any feedback would be appreciated.

Are you talking about a combination machine? :dunno:

Most combo machines are going to be lighter duty, and likely to be hand or foot operated so there is a practical limit on what you can cut or bend manually

if you are bending heavier stuff a hydraulic press with dies is probably a better answer?

Shear Brake Roll SBR-5216 (Baileigh)

This is an old post but wanted to refresh it since I have the exact same question. Don't see myself needing a machine like this for anything bigger than 16 g and this machine seems to be rated for that.

Has anyone had any experience with this particular model? It is a 3 n 1.

Also, are Baileigh machines Asian made? Are the same machines sold under different names that may have a lesser cost?

In my experience if it is made in China then the ratings are overstated.
You may find it very difficult to make it work well on 16ga.
Hell, my chineese box and pan takes a ton of effort to bend 18ga that is 3 ft long even though it is rated for 4ft 16ga
