Hey guys, I just joined although I have been lurking around here for a while. Anyway I am getting ready to pick up a baldor buffer. I am looking at the 111 3600 rpm 1/3 horse model.

I will obviously be using it for buffing but I was hoping to but a wire wheel on it for paint removal also. Anyone have any experience with this model?

My MAIN concern is that it will stall out when I put a wire wheel on it. Thanks

It will run completely fine with a wheel on it. ****, you could put abrasive wheels on it if you wanted to.

Yeah from my research baldor seems like one of the best. I just want to make sure the 1/3 horse model wont bog down or stall out when i use it to remove paint.

It won't bog at all. You would be hard pressed to bog it with a coarse grinding wheel on it even if you were trying to, so a wire wheel will be peanuts.

You've got a Baldor. You never have to ask "if it can" this or that. The answer is always yes, it can.

Southern, do you own this model buffer? I have a half horse hf buffer now and it is kinda difficult to stall but it does sometimes. Hoping the quality 1/3 will be as powerful or better.

1/3 HP won't cut in unless you are just polishing jewelry

my Baldor #333B 3/4HP, 3,600RPM, 3/4" shaft buffer has too high a surface speed with 6-8" buffs.....with wire brushes its fine

next project; 2HP Baldor motor driving a 30" long Mooridian 1" arbor with step pulleys and it WILL be reversible too

big commercial buffers are 5HP and they get stopped:eek:

tip;
line the hole in your rag wheel with a steel sleeve makes changing wheels a snap

N-555 stainless polish is marvelous......then try it on plastic :thumbup:

Idk if I would want to run a wire wheel at 3600 rpm. Most are rated at 1750..You might what to pick up a full face shield and a leather shirt.

Even cheap hf wire wheels have a 6000 rpm rating. Some wires fly off but that is to be expected. Regardless a face mask is totally necessary when using a wire wheel. So...one yes and one no. Anyone have/ use this buffer?
