Baldor Belt Grinder Assistance Needed

Hello all, first time posting, please bear with me. I just bought this grinder off of craigslist. I need some assistance from any grinder/electric motor gurus. The model number is 248-151as I believe. The grinder has a couple of issues. The first is the drive contact wheel, it is an aluminum hub that has rubber tread on it. I am assuming that this was originally glued from the factory to the hub, well it has come unglued, but the tread is in great condition, as far as I can tell. I want to get some feedback on regluing tthe tread back on or if that is not possible, to get some suggestions on replacement. The Baldor factory replacement is steep, someplaces almost twice what I paid for the grinder. Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be much welcomed. The other issue, is something is going on internally with the motor, I am hoping it is just bearings but not sure. I need some guidance in disassembling the unit to troubleshoot, if any can be provided. I will post some pictures here as soon as I can figure out how to do that.

Well pretty sure this is the cause of the clunking sound, anyone got any idea what kind of glue they use on these magnets?

I build speakers, and the best adhesive would be an epoxy or acrylic. If the gaps are small (parts close fitting) acrylics are great since they cure in seconds. And example of this type of adhesive is the glue used to bond mirrors to windshields.

In your case, you probably should use an epoxy as it is cheap and readily available. Get one that takes a while to cure, not those 5 minute types, as they bond better and tend to handle impact better. JB Weld comes to mind.

BTW, I had no idea that your motor was DC

Yeah I was thinking epoxy also, I have used West marine before with good results, on other projects. The whole thing came apart pretty easy, the hardest part was getting the housing apart, and that is easy also once I figured it out. remove the front bolts, then the fan on the rear and then rear housing bolts and the whole armature comes out.

Well the JB Weld 2 part worked, the magnet is glued back in, motor assembled and working like a champ. Picked up some 3M Weather strip and gasket cement and will attempt to glue the tread back on to my drive wheel, hopefully that works!

Yea, the VS ones are DC. That's about the nicest one they make VS and tilting.

I'm kinda surprised the tire came loose of main wheel.

Awesome you build speakers, something I have been wanting to get into, maybe in another life, have you seen these guys work... http://jbl43.com/...resoration stuff but freaking incredible craftsmanship!

My company currently only builds the drivers (woofers and subwoofers)---no cabinets or anything smaller than 8-inch. Everything else is outsourced. Been doing it for over 20 years now, and I have to admit it doesn't feel all that awesome anymore...:)
