I have a choice to make in deciding which bench grinder to keep. I have several at the moment but want to slim it down. My main one will be used with wire wheels, a fine one and coarse braided one.

I currently use a 8” baldor 8107W with braided wheel as my main grinder but I was thinking of using a 7” baldor 762 as it’s replacement. The 7” is a little quieter and amp ratings are pretty similar(5.8 vs 6.6A). Also the 7” is complete while the 8” only has the inner guards.

of course keeping them all would be great but I don’t have the space haha. What would you guys do?

Make a stand that lets me keep both in the same footprint? Lots of good threads on here showing grinder stands and storage.

I have a similar problem. I have a variable speed eight inch Rockwell that I will keep, a seven inch Baldor I'll keep and an eight and a ten inch Baldor. One of those needs to go. The eight inch is way louder than the other two. Not sure why eight inch should be so much louder than seven. The ten inch is quiet because it runs at 1750 rpm. Oddly enough looking at Ebay and Marketplace makes it look like they are both about the same value. Anyway, the eight inch is noticeably more powerful than the seven. Even with full size wheels on both. I can slow the seven but not the eight. If I had to make a choice between those two, I'd keep the eight inch for sure.
