I bought an older Baldor bench grinder a few years ago that still works. It's slow to get to speed. The name plate list it as catalog # 8107, 115vac 3/4 hp, 3450 rpm. The capacitor is marked 8 mfd 330 vac. I tested it and it checks good. It has three wires from the motor that are marked 1, 4, & 8. I contacted Baldor and the only thing they could tell me was that it was an 1940 - 1950 model and they did not have any docs on it. I was just trying to verify the correct capacitor value. The capacitor is connected between the hot and wire 8. (I am guessing that is the start winding. Wire 1 is also connected to the hot (run winding). Wire 4 is connected to the neutral. The hot wire is the sw leg off the on/off switch. Anyone have this same grinder and can verify wire connections and capacitor value? thks

We have a Baldor at the fire museum shop where I volunteer. It is an amazing piece of equipment. I don't think it's as old as the OPs but it runs up quick and stays spinning for a decent amount of time after you shut it down. I can't imagine what it would cost to replace it. I hope you get it sorted out.
