I needed some Baldor grinder accessory's, and Baldor wanted too much $$$ for most of them. So I fabricated up some!

I wanted a water pot and the tool trays for it but at $43 each for the trays and over $60 for the pot.....

I made them out of some large rectangular tubing I had laying around. I decided that the water pot looked better with a tapered look. The trays are lined with some floor runner rubber I picked up at Lowes.

I also needed some replacement lighted eye shades for the machine. I did break down and purchase them.... Now all I need to do is setup a transformer to power them and maybe a relay/timer so they turn on when you start the machine and run for some time after you turn it off.

I guess I should also wash off the LPS3, so the machine looks better!

Nice job, those look so professional. If you told me you bought some new baldor accessories I would have believed you.

Very nice job, looks like factory.
If you are running the grinder on 220V why not wire the eyeshields in series.
You would not have to have a transformer, or a place to put it.

Thanks! I do see some glaring errors though.... like the front of the water pot, I got heavy handed with the sander on the left side when I rounded over the top edge:)

John, I see you have the little bro for my machine! Nice score what did it cost you to ship it??
I can't really wire it the way you did unless I wanted to use 240v bulbs (running @480V) and I'm not sure the eye shields are rated for 240V The sockets probably are, but the switches probably are not. I guess I could change the switches. I could have also rebuilt the ones that came on the machine but, decided that I didn't want to mess with them....

Ok, just find at spot for that transformer then.
My lights are switched by the motor starter itself.
Would you believe that Roadway had a screw up and never sent the
invoice for this, and a wide belt sander. Have phoned them several times
still no invoice, its been 8 months now at least. looks like free shipping to me.

Thanks for those pictures. It is just the incentive I need to make similar ones for my barebones 6" Baldor, in need of much help. Really nice work, BTW, they really do look like factory accessories, as others have commented. Thanks for sharing.

Do you always do such shoddy, crappy work?
That is sarcasm of the highest order, of course! Those things are beautiful! Did you use some hammertone spray paint from a can?
Also, that is one NICE grinder. I'll bet it doesn't bog down like my little 8" does.

Looks very professional. I like them. What did you use for paint? I like the machinery gray/textured look, it almost looks like powder coating. Mike.

I've been meaning to update this post...

Anyway, Yes the paint is Rustolum Hammerite, and this time I used the spray can. I really like this paint and use several different colors, this stuff is dark bronze. If you get it in the quart cans and want to spray it, you will need to get some Xylene to thin it out. Believe it or not the stuff works well applied with a brush too.

I picked up a 350ma control transformer to run the lights on, but I have not installed it yet (I have mounted its enclosure to the stand) now, I need to install it. I would like to use a receptacle for the lights (and not cut off the nice plugs off) but I'm afraid that some one, might some day plug some thing too large into it. I guess I should be fusing the transformer's output anyway, and then if they did overload it, all it would do is blow the fuse...

The little Grinder looked all lonesome, so I just had to pick up it's sibling:) Its got the oversize 16" buffs on it but it seems to pull them fine with 5hp.....

This is an old thread (2010). The photos of your accessories no longer show up. Could you repost them? I need a water pot and might make one too. Thanks
