I recently helped a friend clean out his grandfathers house and came across this grinder and a bunch of other made in usa tools. Is there anywhere I could find another side cover plate for this grinder? I checked ebay with no luck. I'm pretty sure my friend scrapped the part with a bunch of other metal we found in the basement :dunno:

Hmm, it's much too dangerous for you to use without that guard in place, so you'd better box it up and send it to me so I can safely dispose of it for you.
:)

Nice score, you ****.

Looks real similiar to mine. the part you're needing is the cover plate? may be easy enough to fab one up. just use a flat plate and cut out for the axle nut. it wont be factory but would be functional. the big cast housings are the important parts that contain a broken wheel the outer cover just contain the sparks.

Shoot a pic from the side. and make sure the side plate doesn't need a bump in the middle to clear the shaft and keeper nut.

Also get a basic dimension across the Diameter. I may have a side plate with the requisite bump you might be able to adapt easier than trying to fab it in my parts pile.

Outlaw-Looks like the one cover that's on it is a homemade job. It's going to need a bump or hole in the middle to clear the shaft and keeper nut. Guess I could just copy the cover that is on it when fabbing the new one, shouldn't be too difficult. The diameter is 7". I attached some more pictures

Congratulations! Nice Christmas present.

I am not sure how often Baldor has changed those parts.

If the answer is "never", I think you simply need some "Guard Covers" the non-exhaust parts number is: G7FH3801SP (fits right and left) , $42 each cast iron. If you need them with exhaust ports:
G7FH1803A01SP-(RH) and G7FH1801A01SP-(LH) $50 each, again cast iron.

The left hand Arbor Nut is PN: XY6311A62SP. Right hand PN: XY6311A12SP. Both are 5/8 11 (one might have been stolen to use on an angle grinder?)

Baldor has a great support site (http://www.baldor.com/support/product_manuals.asp) with manuals and illustrated parts lists online. It can be hard to navigate due to the sheer volume of information out there.

These PNs are for a 7" 1/3hp Grinder.

Hey Wasted, I found the parts, except this was for an 8" grinder ,so they are WAY ****** than your outer housing.

Probably more trouble that they are worth, but let me know if you have any interest.

WastedAgain440,
No problem. I grew up sweeping chips and and metal dust out from under that same model grinder in my grandfather's shop.

Outlawmws,

I have (I think) an 8" that has had the covers deformed from too much tool rubbing. If yours are in good shape and not doing anything I would be delighted to talk about purchasing the set if you have them.
