Yup. Plus you get speed control. http://www.automationdirect.com/adc...l)/GS1_Drive_Units_(120_-z-_230_VAC)/GS1-10P5 check the specs to see if you need to go a size bigger with the 120v input.

Haha no, I'm gonna pass on this one. I already have a 3/4 Horse 3 Phase for my production shop.

I'm in the market for a 1+ HP model.

The only problem w/ VFD's is that they cause GFCI's to trip, & GFCI's are required in shops now, only way around the requirement is to add a disconnect & hardwire it, or go 240 volts which is not required to have GFCI protection.
