Baldor Motor Capacitor Wiring

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place...

I have a Baldor motor, single phase, 220v, 7.5hp, which came off a compressor. My planer motor died, and I checked it out, and all the specs are the same - hp, shaft diameter, keyway, RPM, rotation, etc. Should be a bolt up fit.

But, to fit this motor through the opening on the planer, I had to take off the cover where the capacitors are. Not a big deal, but while manouevering it into the tight little opening, I knocked two of the wires off, and I dont know which prongs they go onto. I looked for wiring diagrams, but couldn't find any which seemed to apply to my motor. I found a bunch with 3 wires coming out of the motor but none with 4 wires. I took my best guess, stood way back, and fired it up.... and blew up a capacitor. Doh. So, I ordered some new capacitors, but I really would like to know how to wire it, without just trying stuff and blowing up a few capacitors until it seems to maybe be working.

Below is a picture of what I have - just two wires, with only a few options of where they could go - can someone help me?

Thanks, and I hope someone can help!

My picture shows up when I hit 'preview', but doesn't appear to be there when I refresh - any ideas?

I see your picture fine, but can't answer your question. Post up the motor number and maybe we can come up with the schematic. Or you put 'Baldor XXXXX schematic' in google and see if it comes up. Baldor is perty good about putting the information out there.

I believe the motor is Baldor L3709T. The number on the nameplate doesn't correspond to anything, even on the Baldor website. But, I searched through their catalog, and the L3709T appears to be the same motor. A wiring diagram would be fantastic.

Alright, I talked to someone at Baldor, and got them to send me the below wiring diagram. I still can't make sense of it (but I'm not very good with wiring diagrams). It still seems to only have 3 wires coming off the motor, and I have 4... any ideas?

The other goes on the middle start cap that is two wires two spots just put them the opposite of how they were when one burned up.

If you put an amp meter on the white wire way to the right that wire will have a pretty high reading but just for a second or two if everything is right.

If the meter reads constant high amperage then switch the two wires around.
