Baldor motor re-assembly - help!

Hey all,
So I have a mk-101 tile saw and the bearings on the motor needed to be replaced. Motor worked but screeched. Took it apart and replaced the bearings. Was a PITA to get the rusted pulley off!!!
So looking to reassemble and found a wavy washer in the motor body! ****! Where does it go??
Either the pulley side or fan side. Has been a little bit since I took it apart and I can't remember but I want to say fan side.....

The preload would be most important on the greatest load area, pulley side.

I worked for 15 years as an electrician in a steel mill. I have replaced bearings on hundreds of motors, of course most were multi-horsepower, three phase. Granted that has been 25 years ago but in my experience the spring washer always went on the fan side.

I’ve torn apart hundreds of motors at work. That washer is always on the fan side.

Was curious as to the fan side placement, all the motor images from a Google search I saw show either a wave washer on both ends or the load side. Which end do you thing will cause the most vibration and noise from a higher bearing clearance with out a wave washer?

**** - I just realized I probably mis-identified the fan vs the pully side. The side of the shaft with the white "fan" is the internal fan - which is same side as the pulley. The other side with the rusty spline has a black external fan (with a bolt on cover).
Here is a pic of it assembled - and how I "labeled" it.
So when you all reference "fan side", do you mean the pulley side (same side as the white fan)?

How about non-drive end instead of fan side........

As opposed to the drive end which has the shaft sticking out.

The wavy washer goes on the non-drive end.

tile saw that the motor was on. think it came out pretty good. picked it up for $25. $9 for paint, $20 for 4 bearings, $8 for belt.
All in for $62

You have rebuilt your first motor. If you are like most of us, there will be dozens more to come. I appreciate your enthusiasm.

As for having difficulty removing the pulley, the answer is buy better puller tools. Personally I like Proto and have both their 6 ton and 10 ton sets, although it took me many years to find those for prices I could live with. Keep your eyes open ...
