Ball joint nut size

What size are most ball joint nuts 21mm or 22mm? I am planning on using my $5 sears coupon to get one.

Not all cars are metric...I personally would buy an entire socket set....usually cheaper than buying them individually and they are the exact same sockets.

That would definitely be a prerequisite. Otherwise, it's like asking "How high is up?"

I am looking for the most common, I know when I worked at a alignmet shop we used one size more then any other, and I know I did not have that size when I had to do the ball joint in my wifes car. I think it is 22 that I am looking for. My metric wrenches only go up to 20 and my SAE set only goes up to 11/16 for now.

This is a CYA purchase just incase.

You can bet that if you *think* it's 22mm, it will end up being 21, 23 or 24. That's why my wrenches go to 24mm.

Same here. i needed a 24mm wrench and looked around for one - finally bought that and a 21mm from my SO guy....

I have serviced ball joints with everything from a 15mm up to 1 1/4". I guess it depends on what you are working on.

Even with Chrysler's four point big hex that use with 3/4dr to remove and install ball joint on chrysler (it is maybe for 1990 and less) i found three different size as 7.50 dollars each but i had to pass it because i don't see that i will use it... use the money for my need tools than waste money on not need tools...

Those sockets used to cost a lot more than that. I think there were actually four different sizes. I sold my set years ago, but I wish I still had them.
