Looking to see what it will cost me to wire my new 30x40 shop.
Maybe about 8 lights 10 rec wired to run a mig and stick welder
And maybe a mill. I am just trying to get some numbers in my head.
Thanks for y'all's help.

No panel all new from the pole, bout 40 yards from pole to the shop.
If it matters it will be above ground.

As we just saw in a different thread, the cost of new service can vary greatly. That is a conversation you need to have with the power company.

So, can we assume that the PoCo will be running power to a meter that is on this new building, and then you will be doing the work in the building yourself? Or are you looking for numbers to compare to your local electricians who will do the work?

It's all in the details. The more you give....

Thanks for the advice. Yes the power company will run it to the shop.
So I was really looking for a $ amount of a new panel all the wiring
Lights and outlet. No I will have someone in the trade do the work since
That's what they do for a living.

For site unseen project budgeting in an unknown area of the country I use $150/drop. Then add maybe $1000-$2000 for new service and fees. Note this is for small commercial estimates.

Keep in mind that the same job in upstate NY can be 25% of the cost of something done in DC.

Any large loads? Welder, compressor plasma cutter, HVAC, heat etc??

The circuits for that equipment can have an impact on the quote...
