Ballpark figures 30 X 50 Stick built?

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if, in all the builds on here, if anyone has ball park figures on a 30 X 50 Stick built, 14 foot walls, metal sided and roofed. 1 man door, 1- 12 x 12 overhead door, and 1- 10 x 12 overhead door. I am just curious as I am in the very beginning stages of planning the build and need to know how much money I need to have saved up. it will be a cash build. Thanks Tim

I'm in the $50,000 range for a 28x36" addition complete inside and out. But that included a complete new roof, a 24x7 bumpout, and cedar siding over the new and the old which was a 28' x 36' also

stick built, pole building, all steel, insulated, drywalled or finished inside, heat and air, windows, a lot of electrical, bathroom or kitchen, answer all those and you might get a bit closer to your dollar amount.

Now me I built my building for a bit less than $40k but I'm still working on it.

Site work is going to make a significant contribution to the cost also. Are you blessed with a nice level building location, or is there going to be a lot of dirt moved? I'm guessing in Colorado it's the latter.

I just built a 30 X 48 with 12 foot sidewalls and two 10 X 10 garage doors in SW Washington state. Call it 32,000 with a concrete floor. No insulation yet or electric service.

Id start with $30/sf for stick built. You probably will end up needing more, but its a good place to start. I think if you had $40/sf saved up you will make it OK.

There will probably be some initial savings if you don't insulate or plan to heat it. Running utilities is going to eat up some cost, for each one added. Where the needle lies between dry storage building and fully functional workshop makes a large difference.

I am in the process of building my 32x56 with 16 foot sidewalls. It is a ladder frame construction. In floor heat, 14x12 overhead door. I don't have any time to do the work myself for another year or so, so I am paying someone to do it. Without dirt work or electrical included I will have about 62k into it. I also have some extra features in it that add to the cost too.

I think it will be tough to get in for less than $40/sq ft for even basic enclosed structure with concrete floor, and probably closer to $50/sq ft once it is insulated and finished inside. The more features you add, the higher the cost, could go over $50 easily.

Mine is 40x64, but has a 14' ceiling, and 2 12' x 12' doors. I'm in the whole thing as it stands right now for about $42k. That includes the excavation, the structure, concrete, driveway, gutters, drains, and a 150amp box subbed off my house. The only thing I really did myself was the electric. Sorry, I realize it's bigger than what you're planning, but I thought it might help.

Are you planning to build it, or are you going to hire it done?

In either case, I would contact a builder, tel him exactly what you want, and ask for a bid on the cost to do the job. Then figure roughly half that amount if you plan to do the job yourself. Obviously, that won't give you an exact figure. But at least it will give you a ballpark idea as to what it would cost in your area.

Some of these have been mentioned before.

How much work will you do, most, some or none?
What is your timeline, all done in one shot or spread out over several years?
How much earthwork is required for site prep, drainage etc?
Will the building be heated and if so what type?
How much interior finishing is the building going to have?
How much insulation are you going to put in the building?
Will there be plumbing, if so, city, from another building or well?

I have a 32 x 48 two story, shell up in the fall of 2012 and still a work in progress.

Here are some of the cost.

Just the concrete was around $10,000. This did not include site work,did it myself, rebar, insulation under the slab or PEX for radiant heat.

My roof trusses, including floor trusses for second floor came in at around $10,000. That was the delivered to the door price. We used my brothers crane along with help from a few nephews to put them up.

Metal roofing came in at around $10,000. This did not include advantech sheathing, water & ice shield or labor to install.

Finish siding came in at around $10,000. I put it up myself, also bought six lifts of scaffolding to do the work.

In all the closed in price came in at around $77k.

Hi All thanks for all the reply's have been real busy down here right now, so not much time for computers, I am going to get a quote for site prep and if it is too much I will just rent a dozer and do it myself. it will just be pushing dirt from 1 side of the yard to the other and then compacting. I need to level about 6" elevation for the entire build site ( so a 50 X 75 pad) and that will level out the back of my yard nicely. I will hire in the cement work but will put rebar and in-floor heat myself and stub for bathroom ( have well and septic on property will do the work myself). Will hire the shell construction but I will do the insulation and drywall myself. it will be a electric sub panel off the house I will run everything and have a friend who is a master electrician connect it up for me. ( have to upgrade the house service). Before I start I have to get a variance from the county to build closer to the road that is going to cost about a grand. with access to a lower county road.
