plastic edging doesn’t seem like something I need.

Don’t think wood edge banding was a big deal in 1964 when it was trademarked. Not sure, I was only 4, and I only remember Formica tables with metal edges. But I don’t see why it isn’t worth a try. Suspect it’s just putting pressure on it at a known rate of transit. Is there heat too?
