Okay, decided to add a bandsaw to my powertool collection. Tired of borrowing the one from work. When every I needed to cut stuff, having to bring things in. So I am trying to decide weather to go cordless or corded.

I know it will be a bosch 18v cordless made in china if I go that route as I have the bosch 18v tools.

Not sure about the corded route.

So what do you all think, corded or cordless.

My opinion would be corded unless you do a lot of work away from power. I had a bunch of B&D 18V tools and about a dozen batteries. It seems like all the batteries went bad at about the same time. May have been a bad charger but I don't know. Then you get stuck with tools but very expensive to buy new batteries for. I still use them some but now I have replaced most with corded.

I have LI Ion, and they have been rock solid. So I am not really worry about battery dying. But when I use my powertools to build things around the house. I am 99% out in the back yard. And would have to run an extension all the time.

The power cord is fine for the stationary miter saw. But with the bandsaw, it tends to be moving around like my drills and small saws.

X2 on the Mileaukee. I got mine from Graingers a few years back. It was in the showroom attached to a base that set it up as a chop saw. Usually Grainger is tough on prices but while the saw was about $25 more than others the base came with it. Could not pass it up. Waiting to pull the trigger on the SWAG tools base unit that will also turn it into a nice little table band saw.

I have always wanted a band saw for metal but just could not afford one. the Miwalkee has been a great fill in..

One more vote for the Milwaukee Corded ***********. You'll then have the option of getting one of Swag Offroad's bases, which will mean both having a strong portaband and also a vertical saw. I got mine second-hand on Ebay. I really like it.

The only reason I'd go cordless on this kind of tool is if I was doing farm work or something that brought me out where there wasn't power. But that would mean losing the option of adding a base.

Ive had no luck with cordless high torque requirement tools like sawsalls, grinders even circular saws. you can only get a few good cuts before they start slowing down or stop altogether, I would get the Milwaukee deep cut corded, make sure you get the one with the high amp motor too. If you need it in the middle of the yard get a good extension cord :)

Deep Throater Milwakee. Cordless is too wimpy, that saw needs many amps.

Do you get boots put on your wheels by the parking nazis? The cordless is helpful in that situation.

That slick. What is the price for this by you ??? Milwaukee has a base for theres but its around $300.00.
No doubt, corded only. Battery life is too short.

I've got the Milwaukee portable band saw. Very light compared to the deep cut and so far has done everything I've asked it to do.
And it was under $200 at HD
