Hi Guys ...Happy New Year ...
I need some info from guys with more knowledge than I have with bandsaws...
I am restricted to about 218 SFPM on my saw.. (This is the slowest speed that I can get). What .500 wide bi-metal blade configuration would you guys recommend for cutting steel from 16 ga. up to approx. 3/16" thick ??
( Misc brackets & panels, etc ).
I am having trouble with blade life ..

Thanks in advance ....

Bob..

I would use a 10-14 bi-metal or a Morse 8-11 if there is one available to fit your saw

I've had good luck with the Starrett Intenss Pro-Die blades and Amazon seems to have reasonable prices if you are only buying 1 or 2.

A while back I stripped about an inch of teeth off my 10-14 blade cutting 16 gauge steel. I figured that I did not have enough tooth contact and have been using a 14-18 blade for <1/8" now. After these recommendations, I'm wondering if it was a freak occurrence.

Thank you for all the info Gents .....I will contact the recommended suppliers direct & see what they recommend ... I know that my biggest enemy is not getting the blade speed slow enough... About 215 SFPM is the slowest that I can get after modifying my saw ....

Another vote for bi-metal 10/14.

If you can't run coolant try some Stik Kut

^^Agreed. Even though my horizontal bandsaw is set up for running coolant I still prefer to use the Relton Stik-Kut as it is much cleaner to use and works great.
