Bandsaw throat plate

Have an old 14"delta w/gear reduction bandsaw that needed a new plate, the recess in the table is only .100 deep.
The old one I had cut from soft aluminum and it finally gave way.
Found a donor piece of 1/2" 6061, which should be far more rigid, but won't allow tilting the table, which is fine by me.
I tried something new for me and taped it to a fixture plate, then cut it on the rotary table.
The double sided tape held fast and worked well.

What kind of tape did you use? I've use carpet tape before and that worked okay but it wasn't a heavy cut.

3M tape and it was a real tug of war separating it.
Next time I'll try some heat to soften it.

You can also use blue painters tape on both pieces, then crazy glue them together. This can be helpful when you need to be able to wiggle the pieces around a bit before the glue sets.

If you ever need to tilt the table, the plastic inserts from Rockler work fine.
