I just picked up a 9" bandsaw that take a 59 1/2" blade that was set up to cut wood. I went to Home Depot and bought a few blades the same size to cut metal, but when i got home, they wouldn't fit.

I have all the adjustment set to the minimum and still no luck getting it on. Anyone know of a way to get it mounted or are the blades mismarked and should be returned? when I hold them up to one another, the metal cutting blades do seem alittle shorter, but it may just be the way I'm doing it.

Just so everyone knows, Its made by Kawasaki? and sold though TSC. Looks to be a well made saw if I can get the blades I need on it. Any help would be great.

Your owners manual that came with the saw doesn't call out the blade length?

BTW: You are probably already aware that wood band saws run at a considerably faster FPM RATE that metal cutting saws right?

Take the old blade and cut it open lay it on the floor and measure its length. You know it fits, and you can then get the correct size even if you don't have the manual. BTW as listed above it will probably not cut steel worth a dam on a wood working saw. You might get away with aluminum... YMMV

The Manual calls for a 59 1/2' blade, which is the same size metal cutting blade I got. Thats the problem I'm having, I bought the "proper" size blade for it, just the one I bought seems to be about 1/8" to short to go unto to wheels even with all the guides and such adjusted to the miniumam setting.

As far as the speed is concerned, that adjustable so I should be able to slow it down enough to cutting metal half way decent.

Are the wheels under tension? Meaning can you pull them down under spring pressure to get the blades on? That is how my old Rockwell is. Also you can get a 100 foot roll and have them welded to the exact size you need.
