Hmm...so from the catalog lists, is that it? Do you now have the complete range they advertised?

The reason I had to have it was that it was a size not shown in the catalogs.
With good reason! Your Israeli oddball has no Williams (or ISN) or Billing & Spencer number. I'm not saying they didn't make 3/4" x 15/16" DOE wrenches, but if they did, they would've been specials.

Which size are you missing?

It’s kind of odd. Different wrenches are shown in ‘40, ‘41 & ‘43. I finally found the new wrench in the ‘43 listing shown as an ISN 731C. As far as I can tell, I’m missing the 3/4” X 7/8” which they show as a 731A. It’s no longer shown in ‘43.

3bay posted one of these on page 3. 1932. I just found one at the flea market this morning.

I need to thank the curator of the Lugzsonian for sending the Barcalo Ford wrench to the west coast to become part of the Barcalo shrine. The shrine now boasts two of these rare early Ford wrenches, both donated by generous GJ members.

Interesting to me, Don, that Alex de Schebeko is listed as from Chicago, IL, rather than anywhere in Western NY. Do you suppose a free lance designer that might have sold the mfg. rights off to Edward Barcalo?

I know of no catalog that shows those wrenches. I know of a 1958 and 1960 catalog that I haven’t yet seen. They may be in those. Mine seem to range from 9/32” to 1” but I think there may be larger ones out there.
-Don
Edit. Shelbylex has a 1-1/16” x 1-1/8” posted upthread

So does BFBOB - me! ...but my smallest is 5/16, so ya got me on that end.

I'm looking for a 1/2" X 9/16 short offset Barcalo double box end with a raised panel in the middle. It would be the same style as the ones below.
-Don

Don, Given that I am not nearly as organized as others here, it might take a while, but I'm confident that I have one of those stubby DOBE, just not sure of the size. I'll squirrel in deeper tonight if I can find the time.

I've got a double-strike wrench in that size. If only it was a coin instead....

I think the mistake makes for an attractive font.

There was a war on, after all. I guess if it would work to turn a nut or bolt, that was close enough. They are fairly rare wrenches.

Barcalo Santa brought me a late Christmas gift this evening. I doubt that anybody has seen one. I certainly hadn’t.
Happy New Year everyone!

Don I have a single 3/4 x 7/8 but not the 3/4 x 15/16.
I am looking for one.
I saw that one on eBay with the outrageous shipping from Israel and I thought: "who in their right mind would pay that". .......

I actually waited until the listing was almost over and submitted a best offer which was accepted although shipping was still quite expensive. I think that your question is valid, though.:eek7:

I snagged these two BArtDecolo wrenches at the flea market this morning. I am up to seven (7) discrete wrenches of this stylish (but PITA to clean...) type now. Like Don (see post #257 on page 13) and BFOB (see post #62 on page 4), it is a mongrel set, some branded, some not branded (ostensibly contract production for third party retail). I know I am missing a few between the 5/8" x 3/4" and the 15/16" x 1". I'd like to know what they are. The 1943 catalog would not have these and doesn't, but I'm not sure the Double Grips (oldtimers' street name here in NJ is "Roofline") or plain engineers wrenches are a good guide. Barcalo had some weird combinations in there. Who's got the skinny on that? Don? BFOB? I will be looking for anything in between in the wild, but it would be good to know for future reference.

Here is my set that covers all the regular sizes from 3/8” to 1”. None are marked Barcalo.

While I was checking my spares for Lugz’ missing wrench (which I didn’t have), I took a picture of my DOE sets.

This Barcalo perfect handle screwdriver arrived from an eBay seller today. The only place I had ever seen one was in the 1943 Barcalo price sheet. It looks unused and I am very happy to have it.

I have been on a mission to collect all the sizes of the Double Grip DOE Barcalo wrenches. The final missing one arrived from an eBay seller on Monday. I was tipped off to the sale by a fellow Barcalo collector in Wales, which I really appreciate. They changed the wrench size offerings from year to year, which is confusing.

Here they are at the top of the page in the 1937 Barcalo price sheet. I like that rather than call them Parrot nose they called them Polly pliers.

A new addition to the Barcalo shrine arrived yesterday. I may have overspent but I hadn’t seen one before.

My recent addition to Barcalo Buffalo DBE
Got a 15/16-1 DBE
Interesting that they were angulated differently during different period of production (unless they produced both angulation)

Prewar and wartime they offered raised panel deep offset and shallow offset DBE wrenches. The popular opinion is that the government specified the shallow offset for the wartime GMTK. Those are the ones in my keeper sets. Your new DBE smooth panel DBE wrench is postwar, late 40s or early 50s.

I was pleased to turn this nickel-plated bicycle wrench over inside an old junk box at the flea market and discover that it wasn't a Mossberg or Wakefield. As you may or may not know, the acquisition of this outfit in 1914 is what suddenly moved Barcalo Manufacturing from the bedroom to the garage. This is a very well-made tool.

Some I got yesterday from the pawn shop. The combination wrench is an 11/16 Barcalo-Buffalo USA and the DOE wrench is just a Barcalo 1/2x9/16. I researched and couldn’t really put a date on either one so if anyone knows that would be great. The combination wrench has an “A” near the end of the shank closest to the open end.

Today’s Barcalo find. They remind me of some PEXTO I’ve seen.

Found this 5 piece Open End set the other day. The finish on them feels like 40s. The pouch is a deeply (understatement) waxed canvas. Doesn't seem to have had a printed logo on it ever. Barc1.jpgBarc2.jpgBarc3.jpgBarc4.jpgBarc5.jpg
