All good suggestions. Your wrench doesn’t look that rusty to me. I would start with a toothbrush style wire brush and either some mineral spirits or brake cleaner to rinse it off. If it looks okay, I would spray the adjusting wheel with some WD40. Evaporust would probably be overkill since there is so little rust. To prevent future rust a coating of fluid film might be prudent.

No sale would be complete if I didn’t find a Barcalo tool or two. Here are my finds from yesterday. The DOE was made after the sale to Crescent and has quite a bit of chrome peel.

These nice wrenches arrived today from GJ member Oldsmobile. He had listed them in the classified section and it turned out that I didn’t have any of the three. This style was made towards the end of Barcalo being made in Buffalo. IMG_3946.jpegIMG_3947.jpeg
They will be added to these in the Barcalo shrine. IMG_0669.jpeg

Yard sale finds today:

53649008237_f2392475b4_b.jpg

At first glance, I thought it was an SOE with big hanger hole, but nope. Some PO drilled a hole in it.

53649008152_ba13bb061b_b.jpg

53650230529_c8c586cf6e_b.jpg

PO ground one side of the box-end flush. Finish appears to be cadmium.

If anyone needs either of these to fill a hole, let me know. Just picked 'em up 'cause

A) they were nearly free and

II) I didn't have any Barcalo tools around the shop. Now I do.

Factory. Auto kit style came in a set of 5 or 6 with a bolt and wingnut to keep them together. I don't do Barcalo but I have several sets by Danielson, Indestro, Franklin, and others. I would bet my next paycheck Don has a set somewhere on the thread here or in the Auto-Kit thread. They can be fun to complete waiting for the others to show up in your jaunts and haunts.

Hey guys, I found this Barcalo-Buffalo side cutter at my local Restore.

I searched ITCL but this particular version likely predates their listed catalogs.

It measures at apx 5 9/16" and has a blunt tip. There's another listed on Ebaysle but no date data included with that listing.

Appreciate any data yall may have.

I have a few pairs of those early ones with the unusual jaws. They became more conventional looking as time went on. There aren’t a lot of early catalogs available.

It‘s good that you checked back in the thread. I had forgotten about that one. One example could have been knurled by a previous owner but finding a second identical one means to me that Barcalo produced them that way. Cool find. 👍

Found my first Barcalo Buffalo Geometric wrench. No rust 5/16 x 11/32, should clean up just fine with soap and water with scrub brush. I kind of like the style of these, something different than most.

I found a pair of nice Barcalo Buffalo pliers at the nearest ReStore yesterday. A real tool is a rarity, in my experience, at that store. Barcalo pliers.jpgThe Barcalo pliers are 8 inches long.

I received these free rusty Barcalo combos yesterday from a former flea market seller I used to deal with. They had an overnight bath in the evaporust and are no longer rusty.

So I was watching France vs Portugal earlier today in the quarterfinals of the Euro24 soccer tournament with my daughter and I swear I hear the announcer saying "Barcalo." Turns out it's Barcola. Too bad about that juxtaposition. A BARCALO jersey would've been neat to wear! :)

Found these plier/cutters this past weekend. Appear to be a bit different than the lineman's pliers shown earlier (post 683) and in the 1942 Advertisement upthread.

I picked up these three Barcalo-Buffalo tools recently:
1) 7/8" x 3/4" DOE wrench with raised panels
2) 7/16" x 3/8" offset DBE wrench with "FORGED" and raised panels
3) small 7/16" combination wrench with raised panels

I couldn’t resist this when my Barcalo buddy Phil Jones pointed it out to me on eBay. It is likely from the early ‘60s. I should have most of the combo wrenches to fill it out.
