Well I been lurking for awhile.
Need some thoughts
Like the tittle says, this is for an animal barn. Goats, chickens for now. I know they don't need the crazy of a setup but, I don't want some hillbilly looking stuff all half *** on my property.
I have drawn this up to what looks good. Not really following anything in particular like snow load or wind or anything.
It's 20x12 and will be around 16' tall. I am in rural area so no inspection needed.
the Inside post are 6x6 and the rest are 4x4.
My question really is the loft area which will be used as hay/misc storage. I have drawn up that the "header" board that the joist will toe nail to is 2x6 along with the joists them selves. I was thinking about bumping that up to 2x8.
I will bird mouth cut the rafter which will be 2x6. the headers and ridge beam are 2x8.
any thought or questions let me know
the main design
here is my "issue" not sure on the sizes or if I need hangers instead of toe nailing. It is drawn up to be 15" spacing (but just drawn can be changed). I tried to cut away somethings to get a better view
purlins are 2x4. I am doing a metal roof with T1-11 siding. Do I need purlins under the metal or can/should just screw to rafters???
just a different angle
