I think that at one point in time, 50% of all barns visible from a public highway in Missouri looked something like this:

Or this:

Now I think it is down to about 25%.

The "George McKee Dealer in Horses" barn is on SR 821 just north of Caldwell,Ohio. I drive by it every day! There is a small building next to it,but not sure if you can still read what is on it.

I love seeing old barns that have been painted before. There is a local brick building that has handpainted lettering on it, still in great shape. When I had my duster I took some pics in front of it. I am planning on doing some hand painting on my garage, maybe this summer. When I travel to other cities I always look for painted building sides or similar likes. Great post Ryan!!

Here is part of one in my home town, you can see the Coke sign painted. I'm 38 and it's been there as long as I can recall. I'm not sure why the City saw fit to put their sign right over the top of it.

There's a barn down the road from me about two miles with Mail Pouch on one end and Jell-O on the other. Our town is the home of Jell-O.

Excellent idea! I love old lettering on buildings, and on anything for that matter!

Something to consider though with the standing seam siding. Sometimes you would see signs that had 2 horizontal slats and then cut out letters attached to them, floating over the siding.

When you paint on that type of surface, or something corrugated, you get distortion in your lettering when viewed from any angle other then straight on.

I'm sure this is something you've likely already considered though.

Good luck
Zach
