Not sure, I have a similar shade made by ivanhoe miller that uses a ceramic or porcelain bulb socket housing made by GE in the 50's (?) that was dropped and the socket shattered so I am in the same hunt as you. My findings are that most of these old shades were socket specific to whatever socket they came with, so restoring them is kind of a chore. FWIW, I noticed the same sockets on ebay for $30 shipped so I was tempted to try one on my own, it may be a combination of the socket you showed and some "retro fitting" with some filler plates, or, large washers to fill the particular hole diameter your shade is?

Best of Luck to you!

Your going to have to come up with some kind of spacer to fill that 2" hole. If you got the 3/4 socket which will be around I'm thinking 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 outside diameter. 2 big washers might do the trick. 1 below the lip and 1 on top and tighten on a locknut to fasten the socket to the shade. You may have to custom make the washers to get the correct inside and outside dimensions. Then the other issue would them be to have the right "depth" meaning you don't want the bulb to be too high inside the shade. So you may have to make up a spacer to achieve that. It can be done. If I had those shades I'd do it. I love them myself. I seen here on the forum where someone used these in his new shop to give it that vintage look. Show us when you get one done. BCD

As most garage journal members, I have the ability to weld and machine my own pieces. I was just looking for a quick and easy fix as I am in the middle of a bunch of projects. Thanks for the help so far guys. Keep the ideas coming.

$40 for a socket and wire sounds a little steep!

Unless you have a shade with no way to hang it - then a way to hang it is priceless.

I found 2 complete shades cheap recently at an Estate Sale. I removed the ghastly red paint job and need to do some final cleanup before I can put them to use.

I had a third shade only setup that I was looking around for a socket solution for on the cheap and finally gave up - so I feel your pain.

Cheers

Jim
