anyone know a good source of the gooseneck type lights used on the exterior of barns? I've found some, but each fixture is $200 or so shipped. I am hoping to do better.

THANKS!

Mike

Someone might remember who's it was but there was a thread a few months ago on this and showed quite a few lights and their sources. I'd like to have a few myself. They just tore down a Bob Evans a few miles north of me to build a new one and there were probably 20 that went down with it. They just come in and knock everything down in a few hours. Pretty much they don't take anything out until after it is down. I'd like to had a few of the tinted glass industrial doors and windows. But Nooooo!!!

It may not be the perfect solution but have you looked around your local antique stores. I have found a number of the old green on the outside, white on the inside porcelin fixtures. Most are about 2 feet accross. They usually need a easy rebuild and some pipe bent. They look great when all done, I have several up in the yard on poles and mounted to buildings.

ebay... just search green porcelain light. The antique ones are much better quality than the chinese **** they sell at the box stores. I picked up 3 antique ones for the price menards wanted for one of the new ones.

Lowes has them. They even have a smaller version that is appropriate next to a doorway.

I haven't found them at Lowe's. I've checked three stores and went through 66 light pages on their website. Any ideas how I can find it at Lowes?

Here's what the Lowes unit looks like. I now also have two smaller ones on the side with the window, one each corner

All Lowes lighting is manufactured in China. You could buy from them and save a few bucks today but replacing rusty fixtures in 2-3 years is not "saving" anything. Spend the few extra bucks to buy American products that are much better in quality and will last as long as those "vintage" ones on ebay.

I was not about to pay 150 bucks for somthing I could build

Original hanging light at Lowes on the discount table 11.00
EMT conduit and conectors and weather proof box 20.00
spray paint 4.00

Total 35.00

Bending the goose neck is the tricky part.

How did you attach the conduit to the pendant lamp?

I have been looking for a couple of lamps this style for inside my garage and found the ones in a Lowe's when I was out of town. I wrote down the name of them and the Lowe's stock #. When I went to my local Lowe's to buy them they did not have them at that store. I guess it is an item that not all stores carry in stock. They do have them on line. They are portfolio brand. They are called basica warehouse pendant. Item # 269908. If you do a search on Lowe's website under pendant lamps made by portfolio they have 2 types. The stainless look and white.

I used a 2 1/2 inch PVC cap that just fit the cap of the pendant. Drill a hole for the threaded conduit end and placed some pop rivites for good measure. Weather tight and works great.

anyone know if the Portfolio 190830 is still available?, I bought and installed the 190827 (pictured below), but I think it looks too small on my garage.
