I am thinking of building pretty much the same size. This is an aweseom build. I am curious of some of the costs like the trusses. If you are not wanting to share that is fine but if you could let me know what each truss cost. I am trying to decide if i want a 26 x60 with a attic for living space or a 40x60 with 15x60 of it living space. Trying to decide what the price difference for the trusses are.

Thanks

Is it normal to just use the topsoil under the slab like that?

Wherever I have lived we dig to the frost line and back fill it unless the ground is pretty much gravel.

Nice build. No frost lines in North Texas. North Texas usually refers to south of the Red River to around DFW.

Very nice start and I like the looks of the design. Visited a guy that had something similar to that that his family lived in. They lived upstairs and he had his woodworking business in the lower level. Not a bad trip time for getting to work. His bathroom had a tub that you could look out the small picture window to see the countryside. Obviously it was out in the middle of nowhere so they didn't have worry about perverts.

I built my 24x40 garage with the same sort of gambrel roof design. It works well for me after 10 years.
