I thought I would share this because it worked out great. Inside walls of our barn is finished with the same tin that is on the outside, only white. The problem then is the 3/4" high ribs keep you from flush mounting your 4x4 boxes without numerous bends EMT.
What I found is 1/2" angle aluminum stock attached to the back of the boxes with construction adhesive make the 4x4 box knockout exactly 3/4" out from the wall. The 1/2" angle is glued to the back of the boxes (two 3.5" long pieces) with the angle toward the wall and the opening toward the box. Then the boxes are screwed to the wall and what do ya know, perfect fit.
Just thought I would share.
