I've used siphon hoses as well as just opening the fuel sumps at the bottoms of the wings with a 6 gallon gas can sitting under it. Not sure if I would want to use a barrel pumpand have to crank every gallon of fuel out of it by hand. Let gravity do the work for you.
Why do you have to de fuel your plane?
Chris
A float came apart and went sailing by when I was fueling the other day. There is also an AD to pull the tanks and inspect the spar, every 7 years. I'm a year away, but since I have to pull the tank to replace the sending unit, I'm just going to do the inspection on both tanks early. I have the kit and will be getting after it next week.
I picked up a 55 gallon drum for storage. I have 36 gallons to download. I drained it from the wings last time. It was a pain in the ****. I will open the drains for the last little bit. I'd rather fly it out. With FOD in the tank, flying is not in the cards.
