You will see from the pictures I am just in a design phase and looking for opinions. The house we have now is 1500 sqr. ft. house with a basic two car garage. We are looking at building a 40x60 stick frame with 16ft side walls on 12acres we purchased 2 years ago. Our property has waterfront but is salt water and the I have not been able to find a metal building company that will warranty their building more than one year since it would be within 1 mile of salt water, and that is with all galvanized materials. Idea is that we would have the main building dried in then complete the interior ourselves, so I would permit as a garage only, so the floor plan that shows workshop and storage would actually be the first and second floor of the living quarters. We will have to sell our current home and plan to live out of a 5th wheel while we do. Right now it is just my wife and 2 yr old daughter. Figure if our family grows and I continue to grow with my current company we would be able to build a house on the same property if needed. Let me know what you think. One item I didn't know the size and dimensions would be the roof trusses, so I just guessed at how much depth they would have hoping I would have enough vertical height to make the upstairs room a decent size.
