Hello All,

This is my first post on a great site. I have fixing up my garage so that I can get back to work on my 68 Chevy Truck.

I purchase some used kitchen cabinets that I want to install in my garage. There is the problem. The garage floor slopes down towards the overhead door.

How do I make the base cabinets level. The will be a 6 inch gap between the back of the cabinet and the wall, because of the dryer exhaust duct.

I have attached a pictue of the cabinets. The cabinets I'm referring to are the ones behind the bicycle.

Cheers

Hi,
Depends really how much your floor runs out of level if its only 1-2" you should be able to purchase some adjustable kitchen unit legs from any supplier for next to nothing.. If its more then you could build a frame slightly smaller than the units, screw this to the wall and cut legs to suit the gradient. then just sit the units on this and rip some timber to fix on the underside as a plinth..Heres a pic of a frame i just built, to give you an idea... similar principal...
good luck

No different than in a typical kitchen. Set the lowest end down, start shimming the other end until level, fasten the cabinet to the wall, then add a new toe-kick that is cut on a taper to match the floor on top of the existing toe-kick. The new toe-kick will support the cabinet. The new toe-kick can be made out of the wood of your choice that is compatable with how you use your garage. It can be MDF Board, it can be pine, it can be treated 1 by's.

OK first run the dryer vent overhead no point losing 6" X whatever in garage floor space . Then mount the cabinets to the wall and shim them in the front to get them level the floor shouldnt be out that much so either regular shims that home desperate ETC. sells or make a new kick plate for the front of the cabinets that is sized to fit and screw or nail it to the existing kick plates on the cabinets.

Re: new link

My workbench is laid out basically the same way without the "L" shape, except I added plywood doors to mine to hide everything and help keep it cleaner. Also, I'd add a kick plate to it as every freakin' thing I drop bounces off my foot and rolls under the bench!
