Base molding for garage - any recommendations?

Am re-doing my garage, looking to install some base molding. Was thinking either vinyl cove molding, or something a little more decorative like this (in pvc, which is preferable vs. wood for garage application).

Any tips or suggestions? I'm putting epoxy on shortly and want to get the bottom of the sheet rock covered before doing the acid etch.

depends how much moisture there is near the floor, personally, vinyl probably works best make sure the adhesive is compatible with the vinyl

not much, it's a pretty dry garage. last time i put vinyl cove molding on (previous house) i used either liquid nails or loctite pl-something (can't recall). no issues, plenty of adhesion. the trick is doing the cuts just right in the corners.

i prefer the look of vinyl, frankly. but, i haven't done the epoxy on floor yet and i don't want to get the leading bottom edge of sheetrock (greenboard) wet when i hose out the floor. if i apply cove molding now, i'd have to do a ton of masking off when i put down epoxy.

a stupid conundrum, yes.

It would use the vinyl molding. That way if it gets wet, it won't get damaged. If you raise it about 1/8 inch off of the floor, you can shoot some caulking beneath it. (Lay strips of cardboard to set it on when you tack it to the wall.) That will keep all of the critters from getting back behind the wallboard. Good luck.

yeah, vinyl it is. i may have just solved my rinsing issue--io have a bunch of 1x4 pressure treated boards and will just lean 'em against the sheetrock to protect the edge. that'll suffice.

thanks for the tips, folks!

I bought some trex decking to do in my garage. I plan to paint it black first. It will be great in a garage application.

I'd install the base trim about 1/4-1/2" off the flloor if you ever pressure wash or wet mop. Helps reduce wet wall board and such.

I ended up using the composite molding. It cut just like wood and nailed fine with 2" brads to the studs.

Without a doubt vinyl cove moulding. No maintenance, helps keep the wall dry. Doesn't interfere with benches, appliances, or Furnishings placed directly against wall.

I used tile. Its probably price compatible to the plastic molding and easy to clean:

Maybe a little more work....
