The only reason to buy a baseplate lift is if you can't fit an overhead line lift and you can't afford a Mohawk.

I have 14' available , just dont want to deal with the overhead beam installation. No idea how much a mohawk costs , but in another thread , a guy is paying $1400 for a 20 year old unit . They seem to be ''overbuilt'' for my needs .

Just my $0.02, but I went with the OH model because I don't like the base plate in the way, and the overhead connection of the two posts seems more stable to me. After all, if you place a load on the inside of the two post the load is are trying to move the top inwards, and the overhead beam helps resist that motion.

You'd rather deal with tripping over a baseplate all the time vs deal with an overhead installation one time? :headscrat

I am fairly well coordinated , but never having a base plate lift , I dont know if its that big of a problem . Also , if I have to move my business elsewhere , a baseplate lift might be my only option , due to ceiling height .

baseplate is nice if you set the car down and it is in neutral. doesn't roll to far. other than that I can't think of any good reason for it. really sux for trying to roll stuff around under the lift though.

Made up my mind on a lift . It was easy to do after seeing what some new and used lifts were going for . Brand new , delivered for $1650 . Its a BP8000 from greg smith equipment .
