Baseboard heater in garage

Would a baseboard be a terrible idea in the garage for supplemental heat to a ceiling mounted electric heater?

It'd be on opposite side of garage. I do some woodwork and I do work on my cars and occasionally weld something.

I have one I'm no longer using and I think I have access to another one I could possibly daisy chain together. Only cost would be maybe some wire and possibly a thermostat.

What's the budget to buy a heater and it's cost to run?

I like the use of an infrared in line parabolic heater that points at me as a quick and dirty.

I already have the ceiling heater and it doesn't do bad.

I just thought I have the baseboard and probably would be told to take the 2nd. Power is no issue. So cost to hook up the baseboards is minimal.

Budget..... try not to think about. I'll pay to keep garage above freezing and worry about later. Same goes for if I want to go out to garage and crank it up so I can do what I want out there.

Sometimes I'll run my propane patio heater to warm an area up fast if doing more sitting around having beer and watching a game or something.

I'm debating a used but nearly new furnace from another friend, then just basic ductwork. With that I could probably add a coil and condenser to get heat and air, but haven't made that decision yet. For now just debating if the baseboard is a good idea. It needs pulled from room that no longer needs because installed mini split.

how is the garage insulation? would it be better to add some insulation ?
how many watts are the heaters you're planning on using?
Insulation is pretty good. I have a little to finish in wall bays, might be wrapped up tomorrow, then I need 1 more bundle of r30 to wrap up the tails of the of the roofline. So about 95% insulated. Building is house wrapped and taped. Ceiling is r30 and I plan on using metal siding to finish off the ceiling and wainscoting. Walls are r13 or r11(got killer deal on the r11 and wasn't enough of difference to justify not taking) then interior walls above wainscoting are old cedar fence boards.

Because roof isn't vented and I'm seeing some signs of moisture on backside of roof sheathing on north side after this last cold snap, I might talk to acquaintance that owns insulation company about cost to spray foam the roofline, then I'd reinstall the r30 Batts. Or I'm going to have to do some serious research on the venting options. Long story why they weren't added during construction. That's likely another thread. Short of it is, I have exposed rafter tails and thus haven't found viable option to draw air in from soffit area.

My ceiling heater is 5500w low with variables thermostat and 7500w on high.

I think the baseboards are both 1500w. I'm not looking for them being long term necessarily or doing anything other than helping bring the temps up faster. Is there anything hazardous I should worry about?

I’ve lived with baseboard heaters. One thing they are not is fast.

For what you’re describing, I don’t expect you’ll be happy with baseboard heaters. But if it’s cheap to try, give it a shot and see what you think.

The good thing about them no commitment just turn them on when you want extra heat

My folks had them in the garage almost never had them on but would heat when they wanted it

I have a 4 foot 240 volt probably 1500 watt baseboard that I wired a cord to so I can plug it into my 240 receptacles in my garage. It works okay but I just use it when I need some extra heat and know that I will be using a room of the garage/shop. My other heat for the garage so far is 2 milkhouse heaters, 1500 watt with fans, that run on 120 volts.
