1 - need some light duty flooring for the basement. Did metallic epoxy, clear epoxy, urethane etc for garage but don't need that for basement. Would prefer something that doesn't show scratches (cats and furniture moving) but not super high resistant to chemicals. Would like to avoid epoxy since I think no matter what it does show scratches.

2- best way to remove drywall mud from the floor? In anticipation of possibly lightly staining the concrete and some clear coat. Would a big sander do? Was hoping that I wouldn't have to grind. The mid chips off and the floor is flat but there's some discoloration. If I don't stain and just clear then they'll probably show.

How about the staining from the mud? Spot sand, acid etch, wash or something else. Can't be too deep of a stain.

What the product of choice for basements these days? Really tempted to just clear and make it look 'wet'.

I used $30 a gallon Behr "Concrete and Garage Floor" paint at my previous house. Did an acid etch first. Turned out great and never had any peel up or scratch.

Won't be going the concrete paint route from any of the big box stores. Looking for more of a clear polished concrete look without the polishing.

Not sure how you acid etch a basement and get all the acid out. That sounds difficult.

So if I don't any to stain. Just seal and give it a satin sheen. What's the process and the product?
