Basement Garages - advice

Hello,

I am considering moving an old church on to a new foundation and using the basement for a garage and part of the church (two stories at the front) for living in. The size is 40x60 so there is plenty of room for shop tools and storage and work areas for more than one vehicle. I was thinking of 9 foot ceilings so I can get a camper trailer like a Shasta or Airstream to to do work on over the winter months too. I plan to have the structure heated bu ground source heat pumps so the basement floor will be heated. There wont be enough height for a good lift - that will have to wait til a garage is built outside if funds ever allow. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks

I'm missing the correlation between 9' ceilings and working on a camper.

You're going to need ceilings taller than 9' to get a door that's tall enough for a camper to fit through if that's what you're talking about doing.

As a novice on building etc. at the very least insulate the walls. How is the drainage around the foundation?

Exterior roll up doors should work.

a friend of mine built a basement garage when he built his house. Some of the nicer features are 240 power for welding, concrete walls for safety, plus he shoots his .45 down there...yeah I know. Access thru the backyard and room for a project vehicle.
