Here are some quick before and after pics of my basement shop.
I got permission a while back to turn a section of the basement into a shop so I got to work on a 20x20 section that I thought would be useable.

Here are some before pics.

I added some new electrical outlets in the walls and in the ceiling.
I then sheetrocked the studded walls and ceiling. I left 2 walls cement. Since it was a shop, it didn't seem worth the work to stud them and sheet them.

I also added a single door to access the rest of the basement.

I also removed the main window in the room and replaced it with some 6' french doors so I could get my motorcycles and such in from the back yard.

I painted the whole place in gray and blue and then did a Rustoleum epoxy floor.

I am in the process of building a custom workbench for the shop which should be done soon.

Most people can't believe it but my little VW project fits great through the double doors and into the shop where I put it on wheel casters to roll it around where I want it.

For a limited budget, I think the room turned out great and makes a nice little man cave for me to escape to when necessary.

Pictures or it doesn't fit! All kidding aside it looks great. Nice work. I would enjoy seeing a photo of the VW inside.

Great work, I see you got that job done asap once you had a green light from headquarters.

Keep us in pics as you progress and how about that VW project too.

Here is the VW pulling into the cave. It will fit without taking the doors off but it gives me a few extra inches so why not spend the extra 5 minutes?

Here is it on casters and pushed into the corner for now.

Now you're probably saying, "What kind of VW is that?"
That is a 1974 VW SP2. It is an all steel car that was only made in Brazil by VW and never imported to the U.S. Most people have never seen one in person. I'm lucky enough to have a pretty nice version of one.

Awesome job on the shop it looks great. I've never even heard of a VW SP2, but its a great looking car. Now that looks like something they could have sold a bunch of in the U.S.

The car weighs less than 2,000lbs. It has a 1700cc typical air-cooled VW engine with twin carbs.

Great looking conversion of the space, you have done a really nice job. I have never heard of the VW SP2. I think it looks good and agree with Wayne; I'm guessing that they would have done well bringing that vehicle into the states. I like it - that's a nice looking car!

Nice job on the conversion and that's a SWEEEET VW! Just curious why you didn't put in a single overhead door so you could get a bigger car in if you ever get another project.

When I started the conversion, I was big into motorcycles and didn't really plan to put a car in there. Now I am down to only 1 motorcycle and 3 cars??

Very nice! I really like the final look, colours are nice nad place looks clean and "pro".
I love your car as well, never seen it before.

Just one question, what's wrong with the wall where the shirts are? Looks like on a shooting range ;-)

Thanks.
It is concrete that happens to look like a coral reef! :bounce:
