Time for some wood storage, this definitely did the trick.

Clamp rack on a cleat (not my best work), sandblast cab, storage, and layout change...

Found a coffee table roadside, it was nice and heavy so I decided to use the top for a workbench and in hopes of getting rid of the dresser.

So by now you are probably wondering, what do I do down here besides organize and build tables. Here's a 2014 project.

At some point I ended up getting a 400 piece socket set which took up all the space in my chest so I decided to expand. I also thought it might be a good idea to have one for the garage. After about six months I decided they were both a waste of space, and I just needed better organization. So I sold them off and started to clean out what I don't use.

Still working on getting my ratchets organized in the drawers without really putting money into it... Not great but here is what I have so far, at some point I will need to get real organizers that allow for portability.

Also decided to build a larger blast cab, still a work in progress.

My current projects include a wood framed gokart and a minibike. Both engines werent running when I got them so they were cheap, I couldn't resist.

Got these free out of a clients house, they will make a nice system I can keep out of the way. Currently in the process of checking the components before I install them.

Current layout, still too disorganized and too many unfinished projects. Hopefully I can get some stuff done before the holidays.

I like the space. Looks like it's all yours, no-one else trying to store Xmas/easter decorations, off-season clothes, old cardboard boxes, and other what-not/cast-offs.

Reminds me alot of the basement workshop my Dad had back when I was a kid ( in the '60's).

You've got far more work-space than I do, working out of an attached single. You can do alot with it.

Thanks all. Yes i'm spoiled, I crammed all the family junk on the other side of the basement like I was playing Tetris (there is about 5X as much stuff as a few years ago). The repurposing is really just to save money, it also helps that my job is next to a cabinet maker so I pick a lot of what they call "scrap". And yes the lighting is terrible, I will have to see what kind of low budget solution I can come up with. But that would come after my new to me drill press, I just picked it up today and i'm really excited about it because its my first.

Started looking around for small parts storage, was really hoping to get an equipto cabinet but I found something that I felt was a nice size for my space. This first picture is from the previous owner. I don't have any information on it yet other than the name on the tag, "art metal construction company". It weighs a ton and the drawers have built in sliding dividers which are kind of cool. Going to use it for a while before I restore it.

Started looking around and getting annoyed at all the romex, rg6 and random wire running up in the joists. Decided to reroute some of it, weird part is that the way I ran it (completely bypassing my side of the basement) I didn't even need to add any extensions to it.

In doing so I decided to take down the "cabinet" I had hung and all of the hangers for my tools/accessories to clear up some room and decrease shadows. Coming along slow but definitely an improvement.

Here are some before/after pics, nothing great but I want to post anyway. Once I take some current pics it will make more sense...

I don't know if these views make sense (considering the views I had before weren't very detailed) but here you can see I took down anything hanging from the perimeter of the ceiling. A few cables have been rerouted along with the relocation of hanging items. These items will be hung on a pegboard in a more proper location achieving a better functioning space and freeing up room in the craftsman chest. I also plan on more cable relocation and removal of the traditional lighting fixtures to make room for the fluorescent fixtures. Hoping to also run a dedicated line for power, don't know how I am going to achieve that one yet...
