I’ve finished several basements. Best tip I would offer is wall framing. Some people and some books advocate fastening furring strips on the exterior walls. My opinion is this is a huge mistake. Its can be hard to get a good consistent fastening, its slow, the insulation is more expensive and takes more labor and the wiring is a pain in the ****.
Frame your exterior walls with 2x4’s, stand them up and screw them into the floor joists, use wedges between the floor and bottom plate to tighten it up. Drill a hole through the bottom plate into the concrete the same size as a 16d nail. Put a couple pieces of soft wire in the hole and drive the 16 home. It will tighten up and hold great. Now you can use regular fiberglass insulation and regular depth electrical boxes.
