OK, this is just a normal 2 car garage reno, nothing fancy. A 30x30 shop build thread will come at a later date :)

Anyway when my wife and I moved in to our home the previous owners had converted the 2 car garage in to a "studio". Several years later I finally got off my **** and, with the help of a buddy, started converting it back to a real garage.

Some info:

The house is in North Central Tx and was built in 1954, also believe it or not it has 3 phase wiring, but only the AC is 3 phase. Sure does fill up a breaker box quick...

On to a few pictures and as a side-note I am still pulling up the subfloor as I swear those old floor joists are petrified!

This is where I started, I had already pulled the sheetrock out and exposed the old headers and door frames. My poor X-Carve has been waiting to be in a proper space! Also notice some of the metal storage cabinets my wife scored for FREE from work. They are nice, ended up with 3.

After some cleanup so I do not look like such a hoarder

Wider view and after much cussing at the petrified floor joists

Demo time! Yes, I have an inordinate amount of leaves. It's a heavily tree'd lot with the perfect mix of trees to drops leaves year round... Seriously I can never keep up, yay me.

Inside demo, how about those 1950's lights!

tearout-6.jpg

Framed and one of the guys knocking out the cheesey concrete footer, whoever poured it just sat it on top of the old slab. It took nothing to break it up.

Taped and bedded waiting for the door. I went with a simple 16x7 chea* 'er inexpensive door as I am saving my pennies for the real deal 2 story 30x30 shop

More floor demo, at one time I had Bitcoin miners and a bunch of server equipment in there, that's why there's a big 3000 CFM exhaust fan an HP server with 136 TB of storage, yadda yadda. Also people in the 50's were small! Check out that attic access hole!

Just had to put in 2 of the 6 LED fixtures up, wiring is temporary as I just wanted to see the light output. It's amazing, thanks to Garage Journal I ordered the recommended bulbs and fixtures from this awesome thread

Outside after the guys reused the old exterior shingles, I think they did a good job getting them back in place and matching. I was worried because I have not been able to find a match new.

More to come as I finish up the interior, I've been a GJ member for years and have been soaking up all the cool ideas.

Got all of the lights up, someone asked me about shadows with the LEDs so I did a very unscientific "Sundial" test :)

Finally got the stupid floor out, in the pic below you can see the back wall has windows. Because this is a smaller garage I am going to remove them for max wall space.

Yep, we had two doors. One is going bye bye as it led in to a back bedroom. Adds lots more wall space.

Built some quick cheap 2x4 shelves. Tires went in perfect

Salvaged an old kitchen cabinet for wall storage mounted some of my old fastener bins.

Good reclamation project there. Maybe you could sell those 1950's/'60's ceiling lamps to a 'mid-century modern' decorator-person! They look... 'Jetson.' Keep-up the pace, and it'll be done soon.

True enough on the lamps :)

Thank you, finally seeing the finish line. I do need to work out epoxying the floor. But I am going to wait until all the other major reno is done so I don't mess it up. Although that means moving all that stuff again!

Bunch of good progress with the "essentials" in place :)

This shows the fridge, TV, and Senville 24k BTU mini split (in its boxes) also in the background is an old whiteboard I picked up from my Son's school. It's temp mounted as I need to finish the sheetrock work behind it, but I wanted to see how it fit longways.

This fridge holds way more than I thought it would, time to get more!

Minisplit in, oh man it is sooooo nice. Not sure how I've lived all this time in Texas with no A/C in the garage! Also, yes, the wall is filthy. It'll be painted soon™.

Picked this old Schlitz clock up in Jefferson TX a while ago, found a great place for it under the A/C.

Also started running the channel to hide the light wiring.

It is now back to a working garage, quick video of my project that is finally running again after almost 20 years.

It is garage boss approved

When it's in the mid 70's in the garage even detailing is not too bad! Knocking the 20 years of dust off it.

Truck in ready to be worked on

At this point other than doing the floor at some point, I'm done! Until the next "improvement" comes to mind :) 'Cause I know you're never really done...
